Platts have offered apprenticeships across the group for years, in office-based roles, such as Accounting and Marketing, as well as Production and HGV Mechanics. This has given opportunity to many young individuals to learn new skills, train for their career and bring in new ideas to further progress the company.

Cian is currently a Engineer and Fabrication Apprentice at Platts Commercial Services (HGV Garage) who is currently working towards his Technical Diploma in preforming Engineering Operations. He’s currently studying this qualification at one of our local Colleges, Coleg Cambria. As part of the qualifications some of the modules Cian studies are “Working safely in an engineering environment, Fabrication and Welding principles and producing sheet Metal Components and Assemblies.”

Not only do Platts work with local apprentices on a longer-term basis, but we also offer hands-on work experience to younger students who are interested in getting some shorter term exposure to the working environment. Over the years this has included individuals joining our Transport, Marketing and Health and Safety teams giving young people a taste of what a role in these areas might involve. Charlotte is currently working alongside our group QHSE Manager Alison for a few hours each week, whilst studying at college.

Nerys Price-Jones our People and Engagement Director had this to say about apprenticeships:

“Supporting apprenticeships throughout Platts is a key initiative for the company as we continue to grow. Apprenticeships Programs in various traditional skillsets yet innovative businesses are key to ensure we support next generation of our up-and-coming workforce. By being able to develop talented and skilled members of staff, they in turn are motivated by what we do and want to continue with us once they have gained their relevant qualifications.”

We are currently looking for 3 apprenticeships to join our Production teams, who run our factory to manufacture and package our quality animal bedding products, ready for shipping Nationwide. Do get in touch to find out more about earning whilst you learn on an apprenticeship programme at Platts, by emailing  careers@Plattsagriculture.co.uk
